Job DetailsJob Location: TASP - San Francisco, CAPosition Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $23.00 - $26.00 HourlyJob Shift: DayDescriptionTITLE:TASP Program SpecialistREPORTS TO: TASP Program Supervisor - ActivitiesDEPARTMENT Tenant and Communities ServicesSTATUS: Non-exempt, Part-time, TemporaryWAGE RANGE: $23.00 - $26.00LOCATION: 225 Eddy St, San Francisco, CA 94102SCHEDULE:June 16th through August 8th 20-30 hours/week; Mon-Fri flexible schedule 12 PM to 6 PM. Some Tuesdays/Thursdays will be longer days due to field trips.SUMMARYTNDC's Tenderloin After-School Program (TASP)is a community-based program serving children and youth between the ages 7 and 18. TASP is committed to providing the highest quality programming and services to program participants.Under the general direction of Program Supervisor - Activities, the TASP Program Specialist will serve as a key contributor for developing exciting, high-quality, enriching and engaging academic and recreational activities; on and off-site, for youth between the ages of 7 and 18.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESProgramming

  • Develop and implement age appropriate, culturally relevant daily and special programming in collaboration with Program Supervisor-Activities, implementing complementary learning activities and project-based learning.
  • Co-lead 3 youth led community events
  • Plan and implement outdoor education programming, seasonally for tweens + teens
  • Plan and facilitate at least weekly STEM & Creative Arts enrichment activities
  • Support daily program operations including, but not limited to, snack distribution, activity facilitation, and behavior management as needed
  • Provide academic support to all participants in Homework Lab and through individualized tutoring during Academic Teen Nights
  • Greeter coverage - act as program greeter as scheduled
  • Prepare program space daily
  • Plan and lead field trips, as assigned in yearly planning calendars
  • College prep support - mentor high school students during transition to college, support planning and facilitation of annual college workshops and tour
  • Support program outreach through media creation/distribution, outreach phone calls and graphic design tasks for special events
  • Support weekly food distribution as neededOrganizational Support
    • Submit written reports to supervisor as assigned
    • Submit program expenses, and check requests, to supervisor in a timely manner as outlined by Accounting
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisorREQUIRED SKILLS
      • Excellent time management, organization, planning and project management, and multi-tasking skills.
      • Excellent attention to detail.
      • Ability to bring strong, sustained energy and creativity to working with children and youth.
      • Ability to work with youth from diverse cultural backgrounds, ages 7-18.
      • Demonstrated skills in developing and implementing recreational and outdoor education for young people.
      • Demonstrated ability to thrive in high-energy, fast-paced environment.
      • Demonstrated experience problem solving skills, flexibility, and initiative.
      • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with diverse groups of people, individuals, and agencies.
      • Demonstrated commitment to culturally diverse programs for youth.
      • Excellent team building skills.Qualifications
        MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
        • Clear understanding of the urgency, value, and intensity of working with youth in a community setting. Passion, self-motivation, and commitment are essential.
        • B.A. in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Recreation, or related field.
        • Demonstrated minimum 3 years experience working with low-income, urban youth.
        • Demonstrated initiative, creativity and resourcefulness in youth programming.
        • Strong knowledge of Mac and PC systems and knowledge of computer-based enrichment programming. Proficient with MS Word and Outlook.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
          • Bilingual (Spanish-English or Arabic-English)
          • Familiarity with diverse learning styles and teaching styles.
          • Familiarity with Project Based Learning
          • Experience implementing youth leadership programming.
