Position Overview:

The Mechanical Engineering Manager - Production will report to the Mechanical Engineering Senior Manager in Sacramento California. You will be responsible for mechanical production engineering activities across all rail platforms (Coach, Light Rail, and Locomotives).

The successful candidate will serve as the technical liaison between the Engineering departments in Sacramento California, Graz Austria, Vienna Austria, Munich Germany and manufacturing personnel in Sacramento, CA, Lexington North Carolina and Horsehead New York to ensure proper implementation of design drawings and guidelines. In addition, candidates shall have fundamental understanding of machine design and state of the art design for manufacturing and assembly principles with the ability to efficiently communicate technical details to design, production, and leadership staff.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead a team of engineers supporting rail vehicle manufacturing.
  • Perform complex design, development, testing, and modifications of solutions.
  • Explain and clarify complex technical specifications and performance characteristics.
  • Communicate complex technical and commercial issues internally and externally.
  • Prepare or approve work instructions.
  • Recommend new designs, processes, or design changes to meet requirements.
  • Identify and resolve complex problems using problem-solving skills.
  • Resolve complex manufacturing and assembly issues.
  • Support Procurement with material sourcing and design requirements interpretation.
  • Act as the technical representative in customer meetings and provide technical mentorship to personnel
  • Some travel may be required

    To thrive in this role, you have:

    • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, minimum of 10 years
    • Mechanical Engineering experience with projects from start to finish of the Engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing and warranty, minimum 5 years.

          This position is based in Sacramento, CA. We offer a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The base salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA, is $134,400 - $157,800 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications .
