The Director of Logistics will be responsible for two critical areas of the Supply Chain organization: Logistics and Customer Service.. Within the Logistics function, the Director of Logistics will be responsible for the development and execution of Traditional Medicinals--- 3PL and Transportation strategy, vendor management, and the day-to-day execution of logistics-related transactions globally. The Director of Logistics will lead their team to ensure the company obtains and delivers the ingredients, services, and goods in a manner that supports the business's operational needs, including logistics for Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Sales. This will involve Supply Chain management of third-party logistics providers from both domestic and international suppliers. To accomplish the company's goals, the Director of Logistics is responsible for developing and implementing strategic logistics and transportation plans and then making adjustments based on their strengths and weaknesses.. The Customer Service function is responsible for the efficient and accurate entry of customer orders and the coordination of the delivery of goods with the 3PL partners and the TM Logistics team. The Director of Logistics will partner closely with the TM Sales team to report on crucial delivery metrics, communication of delivery schedules and constraints, and represent the Supply Chain on key customer visits.. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:. Maintain and improve long-standing relationships with key supply chain partners as well as sales and customer partners.. Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Sales to identify, qualify and integrate all logistics and transportation with new and existing botanical suppliers into the TM supply network.. Work closely with TM's Sales, attending sales calls with current and new clients.. Ensure that the manufacturing is sufficiently supplied with the right ingredients for final production at all times based upon coordination with demand, supply & production planning, sourcing, and suppliers/vendors.. Manage an annual spend of approximately $20M.. Execute the daily transportation and logistics activities through the team to meet daily, weekly, monthly, and annual production requirements.. Negotiate all 3PL vendor contracts and assure that logistics and operations are provided the highest quality ingredients on time. Develop and manage the ongoing vendor relationships and contractual agreements with Traditional Medicinals' logistics suppliers.. Manage a staff of 4-5 direct reports that execute day-to-day transactions, vendor relations/management, order fulfillment, and customer service.. Develop a top-performing logistics team and drive team support for unified transportation and 3PL vendor management processes.. Evaluate, hire, develop and engage the logistics staff to ensure the department is ready to meet the growing demands of the business.. Drive continuous improvement throughout the department.. Ensure that logistics employees are properly trained to perform the activities required to perform their job.. Additional Duties:. Lead the Transportation and 3PL vendor relation professionals to support the short and long-term company and operational plan and the demand plan.. Create and execute a long-term transportation and 3PL vendor relations strategy that supports the fast-paced growth of the overall organization.. Execute the logistics strategy to meet organizational goals.. Drive cost reduction without sacrificing quality.. Design, develop and monitor processes to ensure top-level performance in Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).. Provide timely and regular transportation and logistics communications with key internal and external stakeholders.. Own the efficient deployment and operation of critical transportation/logistics and vendor management systems aligned with operational and accounting systems.. Balance current transportation and logistics needs while planning to develop future capabilities.. Be aligned with the leadership and strategic plan and drive aligned logistics plans and team buy-in.. Experience:. 8+ years of directly managing the daily activities of a logistics and transportation function as well as Customer Service. Preferably in the CPG, supplements, or health and natural food industries.. Experience being the system owner of the logistics and customer service modules in an ERP platform. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.. Experience in dealing with highly volatile supply chains, preferably agricultural commodities.. Experience in creating and developing a high-performance culture.. Previously managed a team of multiple direct reports.. Education:. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field (Logistics, Business, engineering). MBA preferred.. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:. Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in Logistics from strategy through operations.. Ability to grow direct reports through coaching and support.. A passion for advancing customer expectations.. Passionate believer of visual metrics and focused KPIs.. Exceptionally well organized and accurate with details.. Highly creative and out-of-the-box thinking.
